National Library of Medicine Databases

  • MedlinePlus at the National Library of Medicine
    This service provides access to extensive information about specific diseases and conditions by linking to full-text consumer health information from government agencies and authoritative medical organizations. It also includes news releases, dictionaries, prescription drug guides, lists of hospitals and physicians, health information in Spanish, and clinical trials. MEDLINE searches are available for each of the 500+ topics.

  • CancerNet (National Cancer Institute)
    CancerNet contains the latest information on cancer treatment, tests, screening, genetics, patient support and clinical trials. Includes PDQ (Physician Data Query)the latest cancer information in both professional and patient versions, and CANCERLIT, a database that indexes over 1 million citations and abstracts in the cancer literature.

  • PubMed (MEDLINE)
    PubMed is a service of the National Library of Medicine and provides access to over 11 million MEDLINE citations back to the mid-1960's and additional life science journals. PubMed includes links to many sites providing full text articles and other related resources.

  • PubMed Central
    PubMed Central is an archive of free full-text journals or links to full-text journals in the life sciences.

  • INHealthConnect
    Browse by zip code, city or county for web sites of local health services, programs and providers across Indiana. Search directly for services such as assisted living facilities, support groups, or cardiologists.

  • NLM Gateway
    The National Library of Medicine Gateway allows users to search in multiple databases. Currently, it searches MEDLINE/PubMed, OLDMEDLINE (1958-1965), LocatorPlus (catalog of medical books, serials and audiovisuals), DIRLINE (a directory of health organizations), MedlinePlus (consumer health information), and AIDS Meetings (index to meetings abstracts).

  • DIRLINE
    A directory of health organizations from the National Library of Medicine.

  • National Institutes of Health - Clinical Alerts and Advisories
    Early release of findings from National Institutes of Health-funded clinical trials.

  • Visible Human Project
    Complete, anatomically detailed three-dimensional representations of a normal male and female body.

  • History of Medicine Division (National Library of Medicine)
    Collection of books, manuscripts, and images, including prints, photographs, and portraits relating to the history of medicine.

  • TOXNET (Toxicology Data Network)
    Information on toxicology and hazardous chemicals. Includes these databases: HSDB (Hazardous Substances Data Bank), CCRIS (Chemical Carcinogenesis Research Information System) from the National Cancer Institute, GENE-TOX (Genetic Toxicology/Mutagenicity Data Bank) and IRIS (Integrated Risk Information System) both from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and RTECS (Registry of Toxic Effects of Chemical Substances) from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
